We’d like to congratulate one of our clients, Tower Street Finance, who were deserving winners of the Innovation of the Year Award at the British Wills and Probate Awards last month – a fantastic achievement! The innovative product in question was Inheritance Advance, which can be used to release inheritance to beneficiaries before probate is granted, allowing access to vital funds at the time they are needed rather than beneficiaries having to wait for the lengthy probate process to be complete.
Just last week, TSF launched another excellent product: one to support people who find themselves ‘locked out’ of an estate due to a hefty inheritance tax bill. When an estate is administered, a grant of probate is required to access assets, but in order to get a grant of probate – if the estate is valued above £325,000 – inheritance tax has to be paid. This means that executors can be left with huge amounts of money to pay but no funds with which to pay it.
A first of its kind, Tower Street Finance’s Inheritance Tax Loan addresses this problem and offers a loan to cover inheritance tax which is then paid directly to HMRC, with no personal liability to the applicant, no charge upon property and no repayments to make. The loan is paid back from the estate upon completion of probate before the estate is divided between beneficiaries.
If there is no will in place, an individual can apply to be a representative of the estate and they too can apply for an Inheritance Tax Loan if required. The applicant doesn’t have to be a beneficiary of the estate.
Dicky Davies, Director at Tower Street Finance, comments: “We’re really excited about our new product, which we’ve launched in response to demand from solicitors and probate administrators. Our IHT loan allows executors to pay any inheritance tax due, with no personal liability, which enables estates to be ‘unlocked’, and allows solicitors, administrators and executors to move forward to completion of probate so beneficiaries can access their inheritance.”
Tower Street Finance’s IHT Loan helps people avoid the unnecessary stress and anxiety of how they’ll pay inheritance tax. We think it’s a great product!
